    LOST PET? Follow These Steps For A Speedy Reunion

    If your pet has gone missing, following all of the steps below will give you the best chance of finding him/her as quickly as possible.

    Step #1 Don’t despair

    Step #2 Fill out the HSNB lost pet report

    Step #3 Check our Facebook page regularly to see if your pet was brought in as a stray

    Step #4 Check out other shelters in the area

    Step #5 If you suspect your pet is at a shelter call us! It is critical to schedule an in-person appointment to claim your pet.

    Step #6 Check other Facebook pages such as Vallejo Lost Dogs (Cats are listed too)

    Step #7 Check Nextdoor – neighbors often post found dogs here.

    Step #8 Go old school – don’t underestimate the power of posting lost pet posters in your neighborhood and at local gathering places.

    Fosters Needed

    If you’re looking for companionship, but can’t commit to a full-time pet, please consider volunteering or fostering. We are always looking for foster caregivers for our cats and dogs. Apply to be a foster and make a difference to a pet in need.

    We also need caring volunteers to spend quality time with our dogs and cats at the shelter and to promote our adoptable pets online.

    Animal Welfare Concerns

    If you see or suspect that an animal is being abused or neglected, please report it to the Solano County Sheriff’s Animal Control Services immediately. Please contact the nearest authority:

    Vallejo: (707) 784-4733 (Available 24/7)
    Benicia: (707) 745-3412 (Available 24/7)

    All animal welfare checks, complaints, and enforcement are handled by the Solano County Sheriff’s Animal Control Division. The HSNB does not have the legal authority to investigate or pursue suspected animal abuse situations. 

    The HSNB provides adoption and shelter services for the community’s lost and homeless animals. The HSNB is not a government-funded agency, and does not have jurisdiction to investigate, uphold or enforce laws related to cases of animal cruelty.
